That's assuming you think starring in the most popular film of all time and being named "King of Hollywood" can be called doing pretty well!
As a young man, Gable reportedly sold ties, worked in the oilfields and in a tire factory, and was a lumberjack and a telephone repairman. In 1924 Clark went to Hollywood with his thin-as broom handle in tow. While making over 80 films in his career, (a dozen in 1931 alone), Clark became a big star after Red Dust in 1932, and after winning an Oscar for It Happened One Night (when MGM loaned him out to Columbia as a "punishment"), he had become "The King." The role Clark is best-known for is his performance as "Rhett Butler" in the 1939 classic Gone With the Wind, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor nomination. I would like to think that the DPM award for 1939 would also go to Clark. Gable then joined the Air Force, rose to become a major, and was decorated for his combat missions from 1942 to 1944. After the War, his career never quite returned to its previous heights. He died in 1961, at the age of 59, right after filming The Misfits with Marilyn Monroe and Montgomery Clift. During the filming, his doctors had warned him that he was suffering from a heart disorder. Throughout his career Clark Gable was a DPM wearer. He used his DPM to achieve many staring roles. It was a trademark that Clark wore with pride and certainly used to score his fair share of herons. Clark Gable was a man that epitomised style. His hansom dapper good looks coupled with one of the best DPM’s going around made him irresistible to women. So follow suit people, if you would like to become a famous movie star or just become irresistible to women then get cracking and grow that DPM!

The DPM Film Review Look

Whether you are out strolling the streets of Broadway, in town to catch a movie or maybe a midnight liqueur, a look you can try is the Film Review Look. The Film Review Look encompasses a plain white shirt with a long black coat. This allows the DPM wearer to go under the radar with an uncluttered and smart appearance. Also people will think that your comments are more thought provoking and important, just because of the look. The look comes from the fact that most film & play critics seem to have a love affair with the long black coat and then complementing this with the white shirt. The contrast of black & white is a timeless one and just about all people have a white shirt and black coat in the wardrobe. This look also lets the DPM speak for its self, without the clothes taking any of the attention.

Introducing DPM fan, Mr Iz

This DPM fan, a Mr Iz has been inspired by the DPM site and emailed me a shot of himself in a ‘Military Stance’. One of the most popular is to go searching in the back of your dads wardrobe (or if you are old enough and lucky enough to have gone through the 70’s... your own wardrobe) to find an original 70’s T-shirt. Couple this with a button fly jean and thongs for the quintessential DPM casual look. As shown in the photo to the right, I have found this beautifully striking pale yellow T-shirt and matched it with a stone washed button fly jean. Please note the gaze-away porn stare. Note* This stare is NOT for beginners, only advanced DPM owners can achieve this level of dodgyness.

(Remember to check back in the weeks to come to discover the right DPM look for other occasions)

So where does the name DPM come from?

The DPM’s nomenclature was derived by myself. With the derivatives coming from the sources outlined below.

Well, the Dodgy part comes from the fact that no matter who you are, or what you look like, you do tend to look at little dodgy. But that’s part of the appeal.

The Pornstar fits in because the main custodians of the DPM look were within the Pornstar industry. Peaking in the late 70’s the appeal of the DPM made its way to the general public. With the youth of the day trying to emulate there favourite Larry Long Prong star.

The word moustache comes from a French origin dating from the mid-16th century which was derived from the Greek word mustax. Historically, moustaches have been worn by military men. The British Army, for instance, forbade the shaving of the upper lip by all ranks from the 19th century until the regulation was abolished by an Army Order dated 6 October 1916. In Western cultures women generally remove facial hair, though many are capable of growing it and have done so, usually in the form of thin moustaches. The artist Frida Kahlo famously depicted herself with a moustache.

It Begins!

The time has come...
The revolution has arrived...
DPM lovers unite...

This blog has been initiated to allow DPM enthusiasts the world over, to come together and bond with the thin dodgy pornstar style of moustache that is the DPM!

This photo is a simple shot of me, Josh Stone.
